On "Say You Love Me," Christine McVie depicts a potent lover (presumed to be her then-husband and Fleetwood Mac bassist John McVie) with whom she has become infatuated. "Have mercy, baby, on a poor girl like me / You know I'm falling, falling, falling at your feet / I'm tingling right from my head to my toes / So help me, help me, help me make the feeling go," she begins in the opening verse of "Say You Love Me," which sits as the seventh track on Fleetwood Mac's 1975 self-titled album (which introduced the line-up of Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie and her first husband John McVie). The track was released in 1976 as the LP's final single. Written by the late, two-time Grammy-winning Christine McVie—who died of a stroke on 30 November 2022—"Say You Love Me" is one of Fleetwood Mac's most treasured songs, performed by the band when they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2002.
