Muse's "Exogenesis: Symphony Part 1 (Overture)" begins in a typically grandiose fashion; with soaring cinematic strings worthy of a space opera soundtrack. The song's post-apocalyptical concept centres around the prospect of humanity leaving an uninhabitable Earth to populate outer space. Featuring a roughly 40-person orchestra, this epic symphony is part of a trio of four-minute songs closing out Muse’s fifth genre-spanning studio album The Resistance (2009), which took the number one spot in 19 countries, and reached the top five in the US and several others.
