By their third album, Run-DMC were raising hell. Conceived in Queens, New York by Joseph Simmons, Darryl McDaniels and Jason Mizell, the hip-hop trailblazers Run-DMC released "It's Tricky" in 1987 after amassing two celebrated albums in Run-DMC (1984) and King of Rock (1985). "It's Tricky" went to Number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as making it to Number 16 on the UK Singles Chart. The fourth single from the group's third album, Raising Hell, "It's Tricky" was given a shiny new lease of life through a Jason Nevins remix in 1998, while Run-DMC were famously sued by US rockers The Knack for using an unauthorized sample of "My Sharona," specifically the guitar. The case was settled out of court. In 2016, Run-DMC received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and two years later, Raising Hell was inducted into the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or artistically significant."
