"When Love Calls" is a song by American R&B and soul group Atlantic Starr. It was released as the lead single from their 1981 third studio album, Radiant. Written by David and Wayne Lewis, and produced by veteran Motown producer James Anthony Carmichael, "When Love Calls" is a lush slow jam about a woman trying to persuade her love interest to leave his other lover. Shortly after its release as a commercial single, the track became one of the band's biggest hits, reaching Number 5 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and Number 80 on the Dance Club Songs chart. It also entered the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at Number 67 and achieving Gold certification by the RIAA after selling over 500,000 units. Radiant, its parent album, went to Number 5 on the R&B charts and Number 47 on the Billboard 200. In 1985, "When Love Calls" was re-released as the B-side to their breakthrough hit single "Secret Lovers."
