"Go Down Gamblin'" is a song by the American jazz-rock supergroup Blood, Sweat & Tears. It was included in the band's fourth studio album, B, S & T; 4 (1971), their last one to feature lead vocalist David Clayton-Thomas. Written by the Canadian frontman with saxophonist Fred Lipsius, "Go Down Gamblin'" sounded louder and more aggressive than anything the group had put out up to that point. It featured prominent brass arrangements and stellar guitar work by six-string virtuoso Steve Katz, as well as lyrics about a serial gambler in denial. A shorter radio edit version of the song was released as the album's lead single, reaching Number 32 on the Billboard 200 and Number 8 on the Canadian charts. Even though the album B, S & T; 4 entered the Top 10 of the US pop charts upon its release, it marked both the end of the group's attempts at commercial success and the beginning of their forays into jazz.
