"Tell Mama" is a song by English blues rock band Savoy Brown, formed in southwest London in 1965. The track was included in the group's 1971 seventh studio album, Street Corner Talking. The album was recorded after the band underwent a substantial lineup change, with most of its members leaving the group to form the more successful Foghat. Kim Simmonds, the only remaining founding member, recorded the LP with a new lineup mostly consisting of previous members of the blues band Chicken Shack. "Tell Mama," the opening track of the album, was written by Kim Simmonds and keyboardist Paul Raymond. A vibrant blues rock song through and through, "Tell Mama" is sung from the point of view of a man leaving his hometown out of sheer boredom and hopping on a train in search of new opportunities in the big city. Though the song didn't enter any official charts in their native UK, "Tell Mama" was a minor hit in the United States, peaking number 83 on the Billboard charts.
