For their new version, Dolly Parton's powerhouse vocal is naturally placed centre stage while Paul McCartney casually steps in to play the piano melody. Dolly Parton's "Let It Be" cover is included on her 49th studio album Rockstar, her first outing into the rock arena after nearly six decades as a tunesmith. The track was released as the album's fifth single in August 2023. Meanwhile, Rockstar comprises 30 songs—21 covers and nine originals—and is stuffed to the rafters with A-list guest appearances from the likes of Lizzo, Elton John, Sheryl Crow, P!nk and Brandi Carlile, and many more. The LP followed Dolly Parton's 2022 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
