In the late '90s, Irish-American Los Angeles-based seven-piece Flogging Molly cut their teeth playing local bars like that of their namesake Molly Malone’s and unleashed their debut album Swagger, mixed by none other than Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies, the Breeders, PJ Harvey) in 2000. The LP was a massive hit, giving the Celtic punk favourites a signature song in "Salty Dog" and paving the way for their second album. Released in 2002, the beautifully titled Drunken Lullabies threw up another bevy of party-starting songs. The title track was even featured on the soundtrack of the popular video game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4. Drunken Lullabies track "Rebels of the Sacred Heart" is a punchy, fiddle-strewn riot that wholeheartedly races through Catholic guilt, boozing, and immigration ("Genuflect all you refugees who fled the land") at the breakneck speed with which Flogging Molly are famed.
