Forming in Quincy, Massachusetts in the late 1990s, beloved Celtic punk upstarts the Dropkick Murphys combined the anarchic spirit of classic punk with traditional Irish instrumentation for an intoxicating mix that forged a succession of popular albums and hit singles such as "The State of Massachusetts." The band have long shown their support for unions and on 2003 anthem "Worker's Song" they raise a fist in solidarity with all the workers "who toil night and day / By hand and by brain to earn your pay," before exploding into a shouty chorus reinforced by several voices. The track was featured on the band's fourth studio album Blackout (2003), which contained a tribute to the Pennsylvania coal miners of the 2002 Quecreek Mine Rescue ("Buried Alive") and a fresh take on Woody Guthrie's "Gonna Be a Blackout Tonight." Blackout was the successor to 2001 offering Sing Loud, Sing Proud!
