Alice (Who the X Is Alice) - Gompie - MP3 instrumental karaoke

In 1995, Rob Peters, head honcho of Dureco Records, and Peter Koelewijn, a long-time guitarist and singer in the Dutch scene, formed Gompie along with a crew of session musicians. That same year they hit the big time immediately with their parody of the 1976 Smokie hit "Living Next Door to Alice," renamed as the expletive-filled "Alice (Who the X Is Alice)." Putting their stamp on a classic about one man's unrequited love towards his next-door neighbour proved successful; the single was a hit in multiple countries around the world, with a censored version getting released in the UK and the US. In fact, Gompie fared so well with their remake that they were inspired to name their album Who the X Is Gompie!; an LP stuffed full of parody versions of well-known tunes, including "I Will Survive," "Voulez-Vous Coucher Avec Moi Ce Soir?" and "Life? You Never Saw My Wife," a parody of "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life."
