"Let's Go to the Mall" is a song from the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. The song was performed in the series by Canadian actress Cobie Smulders, playing the character Robin Scherbatsky; in the show's continuity, the character had a secret past as a Canadian teenage pop star under the stage name Robin Sparkles. The song and its accompanying music video were featured in the How I Met Your Mother episode titled Slap Bet. A pastiche of 1980s teen pop (in the style of Tiffany's "I Think We're Alone Now"), the song's lyrics are an invitation from Robin for people to join her at the shopping mall for some fun. The lyrics are laced with references to 1980s fashion trends like jelly bracelets and Canadian culture. The song was written by the duo of Craig Thomas and Carter Bays, and produced by John Swihart. "Let's Go to the Mall" was a hit with fans and critics alike. It was digitally released as a single in September 2007 and later included in the soundtrack album How I Met Your Music released in 2012. Despite being a fictional song from a sitcom, "Let's Go to the Mall" managed to attract a significant following, with Smulders reprising the role in several more episodes and even performing the song live at Comic-Con.
