The award for the most unpronounceable song title in funk history goes to "Aqua Boogie (A Psychoalphadiscobetabioaquadoloop)," an Afrofuturist voyage penned by Parliament for their 1978 album Motor Booty Affair, which followed 1977's Funkentelechy Vs. the Placebo Syndrome. The first sound you hear is the alien high-pitched voice of a frequent P-funk flyer, Sir Nose D'Voidoffunk. He's being taken to an underwater party in Atlantis by the yellow bird pictured on the album cover. Steered by vocals from the inimitable George Clinton, Garry Shider, Ray Davis, and new Parliament member Walter "Junie" Morrison, "Aqua Boogie (A Psychoalphadiscobetabioaquadoloop)," is about needing to swim while fearing the water, which the group then compare to an unwillingness to dance. The track is one of the last P-Funk cuts written by mainstays George Clinton, bassist Bootsy Collins, and keyboardist Bernie Worrell.
