With the late Rusty Young at the steering wheel, LA-bred innovators Poco melded country and rock for a sonic collision that made a star out of the pedal steel guitar. Founded by former Buffalo Springfield member Richie Furay and Buffalo Springfield session musicians Jim Messina and Rusty Young, the band scored several hits in the '70s, including "Crazy Love" and "Heart Of The Night," before a string of low-charting albums led to a hiatus in 1984. Five years later, and "Call It Love" came hurtling out of nowhere to jumpstart their career. The 1989 single soared to a respectable Number 18 in the US and was featured on Poco's Gold-certified reunion album, Legacy, which saw the five original members of the band re-assemble and bag another Top 40 single in "Nothin' to Hide." Following the release of Legacy, the group spent the next few decades touring under various different lineups.
