Ratt don't mince their words on this trashy, subterranean hard rock missive, "Lovin' You's a Dirty Job," swapping sweet nothings for smutty declarations ("You put me through the ringer / And hung me out to dry / You licked me off your fingers / Just like a piece of pie") before crashing into the hook of the song's chorus ("Girl, lovin' you's a dirty job and / I'm the man to do it"). Co-written by Ratt bassist Juan Croucier, guitarist Warren DeMartini, lead vocalist Stephen Pearcy, and songwriter Desmond Child, "Lovin' You's a Dirty Job" gave the glam-affiliated rockers a top 20 single on the US Mainstream Rock chart in 1990, marking the start of a whole new decade with an explosive fifth studio album. More indebted to glam metal than previous offerings, Detonator was released on Atlantic Records and become Ratt's final LP to feature bassist Juan Croucier (who made a comeback in 2012) as well as guitarist Robbin Crosby, who passed away in 2002.
