The mother-and-daughter country music duo The Judds did a lot to revitalize the genre throughout the 1980s. One of the many hits they had over the course of their career was “Grandpa (Tell Me ‘Bout the Good Old Days),” a song penned by acclaimed songwriter Jamie O’Hara, known as one half of the country music duo The O'Kanes. It was released as the second single from The Judds’ album Rockin’ with the Rhythm and became a runaway success for the duo. The song is a melancholy lament about the decline of traditional values, with the protagonist longing for the simplicity of the past. The Judds recorded the song with producer Brent Maher.
