"Mama He's Crazy" is a song by American country music duo The Judds. It was first released as the second single from the duo’s debut EP Wynonna & Naomi (1984), following the success of their debut single “Had a Dream (From the Heart)” in December 1983. “Mama He’s Crazy” was originally written by country music songwriter Kenny O'Dell. The Judds’s version of the song was produced by Brent Maher, and it made it to Number 1 of the US Hot Country Songs chart, spending a total of 14 weeks on the chart. “Mama He’s Crazy” is a melancholy country ballad about a mother and daughter discussing the latter’s romantic life. The song has the distinction of being only the second country Number 1 song sung by a female duo. Later, after the success of their EP version, The Judds included the song as part of their 1984 debut full-length album Why Not Me. "Mama He’s Crazy” went on to be covered by a wide array of artists, such as Jill Johnson in 2017.
