“I Don’t Wanna Be Me” is a single by American gothic metal band Type O Negative, released in 2003 as part of the group’s sixth album Life Is Killing Me. Exhibiting a catchy and energetic sound, “I Don’t Wanna Be Me” is closer to the punk rock genre than most of the band’s output. Despite its comparatively bright sound, the song features lyrics about mental health struggles and issues of self-loathing. “I Don’t Wanna Be Me” was written by Type O Negative frontman Peter Steele and produced by Peter Steele along with Type O Negative keyboardist Josh Silver.
