Erstwhile goth overlords Type O Negative take an unusual route to romance in this morbidly titled track from their fourth album October Rust. "Love You to Death" marries the atmospheric noise of the Cocteau Twins with the heavy, jagged chug of metal guitar and plenty of eerie haunted piano for a swirling, doomy ode to complicated, incendiary love. "Black lipstick stains her glass of red wine / I am your servant, may I light your cigarette?," asks the band's late enigmatic frontman Peter Steele. "Those lips move, yeah, I can feel what you're sayin', prayin' / They say the beast inside of me is gonna get ya, get ya, yeah..." "Love You to Death" was the third track on October Rust, which also boasted a cover of Neil Young's "Cinnamon Girl" and polyamorous-championing psychedelic rock cut "My Girlfriend's Girlfriend." It was also the first album on which drummer Johnny Kelly is credited.
