W.A.S.P. raised the bar for rowdy party-starters with their 1986 heavy metal rocket, "Wild Child," injecting a sense of passionate romance into the pedal-to-the-metal formula through the song's central conceit; "My heart's in exile I need you to touch me / 'Cause I want what you do," yells Blackie Lawless as gnarly guitars prop up the song and he sings of its titular protagonist with a yearning, stinging desire. "Wild Child" was the title track off the band's second studio album The Last Command and was released as the third single, going to number 71 on the UK Singles Chart. It became one of the shock-rock troupe's best-known songs, along with the likes of "Animal (Fuck Like a Beast)," "I Wanna Be Somebody" "L.O.V.E. Machine" and many more. The Last Command was a successful album for W.A.S.P., hitting number 49 on the Billboard 200 album chart in 1986 and selling over one million copies.
