O'Bryan pulls out all the stops in this hulking slice of smooth soul released at the height of the falsetto multi-instrumentalist's fame in the 1980s. "You and I" was in fact written by none other than Stevie Wonder, who was on his 19th studio album at the time (1980's Hotter than July) and just a year off from unwittingly scoring the biggest hit of his career, 1984 smash "I Just Called to Say I Love You." A romantic piano ballad, "You and I" was inspired by Stevie Wonder's then-wife Syreeta Wright: his rock ("I've found strength in you") with whom he could conquer the world. After dropping his debut in 1982, O'Bryan enjoyed a period of commercial success during the 1980s that produced nine charting singles on the R&B charts. "You and I" was featured on his second studio album of the same name (1983) and later recorded by George Michael as a wedding gift for Prince William and Kate Middleton in April 2011.
