Oakland rap legend Too Short cut his teeth flogging tapes out of the back of his car in the early 1980s before dropping his debut album, Don't Stop Rappin', in 1983. Four years later, he co-founded the label, Dangerous Music, and released his breakthrough fourth album, Born to Mack on the label that year. Fast forward to 2003 and he has since accrued a slew of platinum-selling albums, making his name as a no-holds-barred gangsta rapper prone to sexually explicit tracks like this one. "Shake That Monkey" is a crunk classic that exemplifies the West Coast rapper's prediction for strip club content. Featuring crunk trailblazers Lil Jon and the East Side Boyz, the track is built around a core of explicit lyrics that are definitely not suitable for radio. In spite of this, "Shake That Monkey" managed to find a place for itself within the US Billboard Hot 100 (where it went to number 84) and Billboard's US Hot Rap Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts.
